Geoff qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975, cutting his teeth in the Square Mile. In 1977 he moved to Plymouth and never looked back. He’s built a reputation in the region for his no-nonsense, honest, old school approach. Particularly useful when dealing with HMRC, who hate talking to him, because they know they can’t bypass his clear, knowledgeable arguments on behalf of his clients. He will do everything legally possible on behalf of his clients, representing them against scrutiny. His driving force in tax negotiations with HMRC is very simple – he doesn’t like unfairness. Geoff has worked through three major recessions during his career, and has helped his clients survive then flourish, no matter the state of the economy. Because he’s hands-on, in the majority of cases, Geoff will be your first point of contact.
Ben is Harold Duckworth & Co’s technology and start-up specialist. A qualified Chartered and Certified Accountant, with extensive industry experience under his belt, he has been instrumental in using the latest accounting software and automated systems to free up client time and analyse businesses’ current situations and future goals. He has a particular expertise, and passion for, working with start-ups.
David is our specialist tax planning advisor, managing all tax returns, submissions and, liaising with Geoff, agreeing liabilities. He has particular expertise in dealing with rental income and UK liabilities for overseas clients.
Sue’s been with us since 1993 and she’s still going strong. As our resident expert on all things enrolment, pensions, VAT compliance and PAYE, she keeps in regular contact with our clients to make sure everything’s on track.
