  • I was first introduced to Geoff, Ben and the team at Harold Duckworth and Co. back in 2013. At this time I was in the process of a very lengthy and extremely difficult business transaction. To summarise briefly, my then business partners and I were going our separate ways and I was buying their shares.   • Harold Duckworth & Co have dealt with our bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and Accountancy functions for over 20 years. As a Charity our survival is dependent on donations and legacies. Geoff attends all the Trustee meetings providing us with financial updates which enable the Trustees to make prudent decisions for the benefit of the animals. Following Geoff's advice we challenged Customs & Excise regarding the VAT treatment of donated dogs and cats. The VAT tribunal agreed with Geoff's case that any animal sales were not subject to VAT. This landmark case enabled VAT registered Charities including Battersea Cats and Dogs Home to claim substantial VAT refunds.
